Loving Lately Second Edition

Y’all seemed to really like my first blog post in this series which was a pleasant surprise! I so appreciate each and every one of you being here.

Embossed Stationery & Wax Seals

I just love personalized stationery. It is such a nice, yet simple, touch. I write a note to accompany each of my clients’ closing gifts and I want it to be special so I always have personalized stationery on hand. All the notecards I have bought have been from Etsy shops and I try something new every time. I really love my most recent purchase. These are embossed with my monogram from the Iron Leaf Press shop.

I am also obsessed with these “wax seal” stickers I got from the Green House Wax Seals shop. The color scheme of the notecard, envelope and wax seal is so elegant and pretty, I might actually buy this whole set again.

Envelope color: Slate

Wax Seals color: Champagne

Black No-Show Socks

Hey, I told y’all this list would be random! But truly I did just order another set of these no-show socks because I wear them almost every day now and don’t do laundry fast enough to keep up. These have a no-slip grip on the inside of the heel that keeps them from sliding off and they have never slid off once, unlike others I have tried. What’s worse than your sock sliding into the middle of your shoe?! They come in other colors and they’re the perfect thickness.

Crave Kitchen & Cocktails

If you like mac and cheese, you HAVE to go to Crave in Mount Pleasant. Their mac and cheese is literally award winning and has won during the annual Mac Off here in Charleston several years in a row.

However I am including them this week primarily because of the cocktail I had there over the weekend: the Cucumber Mint Mule. My husband and I love Moscow mules and make them at home often but I have tried cucumber vodka a couple times and it’s not really my jam. Regardless, when he ordered this one I had to have a taste. I surprisingly loved it so I got one for myself. It was very refreshing and not too cucumber-y!!! It’s made with locally owned vodka (Dixie vodka) which is pretty cool. Also pictured is the Island Breeze which was my first drink.

Our Garden

OK I can’t take much credit here at all because my husband TJ is the farmer, but I am so excited for our garden this spring/summer! I think this is our 5th year with a garden, thanks to TJ’s green thumb. This year we have planted:

  • 2 types of lettuce

  • Parsley

  • Mint

  • 2 types of tomatoes

  • Broccoli

  • Basil

  • Jalapeno peppers

  • Meyer lemon

  • Okra

  • And for the very first time….strawberries!

Everything is taking off well so far and I love checking on the garden every day. I can’t wait to see how the strawberries do. There are already a handful growing! If you’re looking to plant your own garden, in my experience, the easiest things to grow have been: tomatoes, lettuce, basil, jalapeno peppers, and bell peppers. Clemson’s College of Agriculture website has a ton of helpful information on gardening in South Carolina. It’s not too late to start— most of the crops are in the planting window right now! The Newsworthy Podcast

I heard about this podcast called The Newsworthy from another podcast this past week and I was sold when they said each episode is only about 10 minutes. It runs 6 days a week and gives a quick synopsis of the day’s biggest headlines. Their tagline is: “The day’s news in about 10 minutes. Fast, fair, fun.” It’s not a biased news outlet which I really appreciate. It’s super digestible in a quick ten minutes, and it keeps me in the loop where I otherwise wouldn’t be because I honestly hate reading the news. I feel smarter and more informed already ;)
