Loving Lately First Edition

My blog needs some more love! I enjoy writing and sharing but life seems to get in the way. In an attempt to connect more with y’all I am starting a bi-weekly “Loving Lately” blog post. It will include literally anything: products, stores, podcasts, quotes, foods, books, restaurants, etc. Anything and everything I am loving in my life lately, so I think everyone who follows me could relate or connect in some way. I hope it helps you get to know me and Charleston a little better.

Two Blokes Brewery

Admittedly, I was one of those people that groaned at the people who brought babies to bars (now I realize you still gotta live your life, man!) So after Wyatt was born I was looking for really casual places to go out and have a drink where having a baby in tow might not be frowned upon. Ten minutes from our house off Long Point Rd in Mt Pleasant is 4 different breweries and we have frequented all of them the past few months. My favorite is Two Blokes Brewing. I love fruity girly beers and they definitely have the best ones. Check out the Barrel Aged Femme Petale, the First Blood and the Planet of the Apricots. PS they also have a food truck there most nights.

Country Roses

I’m not really a rose kinda girl but I loved the color of these so I grabbed them when I was at Trader Joe’s. I’ve trimmed the stems and changed the water a couple times and I’ve been incredibly impressed that they’ve lasted two and a half weeks so far. I have flowers on my kitchen table constantly because they’re a little something that brings me joy every day.

Baby Bear Hat

I can’t handle it. Can not. There’s not much more to say. Got it from Amazon and it’s a little big so thankfully I think it’ll still fit him next year.

Sweet Loren’s Cookies

UMMMM these are seriously the best gluten free/dairy free anything I have ever had. I bought the fudgey brownie randomly while at Publix and only made half at a time (my strategy to try to pace myself) and my husband and I ate all 6 in one sitting both times. He absolutely loves them too. And the ingredients are super clean. If you live in the Charleston area you can get them at Harris Teeter and Whole Foods too. On their website you can read the ingredients list and use their store locator. I am so pumped about these! There are 3 other flavors I am trying ASAP. Let me know if you try them!

Generation Why

I can’t quit the murder podcasts. What is wrong with me? They are about 80% of what I listen to and I still can’t get enough! I’ve been binging Generation Why lately because they are straight to the point without too much chatter in the beginning. Their voices don’t bother me like some others (lol) and there’s one story per episode, usually about an hour long so they’re easy to digest in one sitting. Speaking of voices, do you ever google the hosts of podcasts? These guys look nothing like what I expected and I thought they were much younger!

Metto Coffee’s matcha latte

You may or may not have heard (er, seen) me mention that I have worked from home for most of my adult career. This means I have been to many many coffee shops all over Charleston— mostly downtown and Mount Pleasant. For the past year thanks to COVID I haven’t been frequenting coffee shops as much to sit and work but I still have the toxic trait of getting an iced coffee every time I leave the house. But lately it’s been the matcha latte from Metto in Mount Pleasant! FYI they add vanilla and that’s a little too sweet for me so I ask them to leave it out. The matcha powder is already sweetened. I also highly recommend their chicken salad on sourdough! Their sourdough bread actually tastes like sourdough. They have lots of breakfast and lunch items as wells as teas and coffees. Definitely a spot worth checking out.
