Loving Lately Eighth Edition

Lately I am loving the microblading I had done on my eyebrows, my linen bed sheets, Amazon subscriptions, maternity lounge pants and a car dashboard camera.

Microblading

I had microblading done for the first time in December 2019. My mom is a retired electrologist (permanent hair removal) and she did my eyebrows when I was about 15. Back then, thinner eyebrows were in, so mine were pretty thin for years because I never bothered with filling them in every day. #lazy

But, I wanted them thicker despite my laziness, and when my friend Eva told me about the microblading she had done, I knew that was my answer.

This is not a great before and after but you can see how thin and light my eyebrows were before. The shape is much better now, too.

The “after” photo is from today. I had my second round/touch up done about 2 weeks ago. So it lasted a year and a half for me. This will vary from person to person.

I went to Microblading Charleston and Jonny did my brows both times. He is a perfectionist! This treatment is a bit expensive, but my second round cost half the price because the shape and most of the pigment was still there, so it’s not terribly costly to maintain.

10/10 recommend microblading!!!

Linen Bed Sheets

Yes, I succumbed to the linen bed sheet craze and I have zero regrets. My husband likes regular cotton and I like jersey because I think they are the most cozy, but truthfully jersey sheets are a little too warm in the summer. I figured linen might be a snuggly happy-medium.

I actually bought mine through my interior designer friend, Taylor of TD Interiors. The cost was about the same as all the big names out there but I was supporting a local business instead.

I chose all white, of course. BUT, learn from my mistake and know that you can’t bleach linen; it breaks down the fibers. I learned this the hard way after getting a couple holes in a pillow case.

A couple washing and drying tips for linen:

  • No bleach

  • Use gentle detergent

  • Cold water setting

  • Air dry if possible. If not, dry on low until 95% dry then air dry.

Everyone always wonders if linen is scratchy. Sure, it’s a little scratchy at first, but it truly gets softer after a few washes. I still love mine after several months.

I recently bought these double edge shams to snazz up my pillowcases a bit. They add a subtle but elegant touch.

Amazon Subscriptions

Life is busy and about to be busier with two under 2 in a few months. I need to simplify. I just can’t keep up with when we need more toilet paper or sponges or laundry detergent anymore.

I already had a subscription set up on Amazon for diapers, so I’m not sure why it took me so long to take advantage of this option for other staples.

I set up subscriptions for toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, sponges, freezer ziplock bags, and sandwich ziplock bags. These are our household’s most common household items that I find need to be replenished the most often.

You can select in Amazon subscriptions how often you want the item automatically sent to you, and Amazon provides a “most common” subscription timeline if you need that for reference. I used that suggestion for everything except laundry and dish detergent because I looked back at my recent purchases to see how often I was repurchasing and went off that timeframe.

You save 5% by using this service and you can save 15% if you receive 4 products in one delivery. This is nice and will work for my first order but I’m not sure if it will line up again because I need some items more or less frequently than others.

Regardless I am happy to have “set it and forget it!”

Maternity Lounge Pants

Buying maternity clothes is kind of a bummer, especially when you’re on your last pregnancy. Who likes spending money on clothes you know you’ll only wear for a few months?!

None of my comfy/pajama pants fit anymore and I needed some to get me through the fall and winter without spending a lot of money.

This set of two lounge joggers are super soft and comfy and the belly part seems like it should stretch enough for the next 5ish months. Note: they aren’t like, cute. I wouldn’t wear them out. But they are perfect for around the house.

Car Dash Camera

My son Wyatt started a nice new trend lately where he doesn’t like being in the car 80% of the time. Looking back to see him in the headrest mirror is just plain dangerous and getting more frequent.

Britt Fogle shared this car seat dash camera on her Instagram and I promptly purchased it. I can glance over at the camera on my dashboard quickly and easily to see Wyatt without having to turn my whole body around and take my eyes off the road. The pad they provided didn’t prevent the camera from sliding around on my dash so I bought this non slip grip pad and it works perfectly.

The camera quality is really good, however I will say the product quality is only decent. Still, I am super happy with it.
